The incident happened on Friday, May 3 just before 10 p.m., when a car struck a telephone pole at the intersection of Bayberry Lane and South Bedford Road (Route 172) in Bedford, the Bedford Fire Department said on Sunday, May 5.
Arriving fire crews soon found a single car on the road with heavy damage. The road was then closed and an ambulance arrived at the scene, fire officials said.
The driver was later taken to a hospital for evaluation while crews cleaned debris and vehicle fluids from the crash scene. The intersection was then turned over to NYSEG so they could replace the pole.
Fire officials did not detail the cause of the crash.
